Drawing things and making up stories is more fun than anything else I can think of, so I’m really happy that it’s my job, because I’d be doing it anyway.

For years I drew pictures for educational publications. Then I went to Cambridge School of Art and studied for an MA in Children’s book illustration. I had a brilliant time there and re- discovered my sketchbook! Now I love to draw pictures of everything around me, for my own books as well as other authors.

I use all sorts of things to draw with, pencils, crayons, ink, twigs and watercolour. My fingernails are permanently grubby but it doesn't matter because I spend most of the time in my shed.

In 2018 I was a UK winner of the Picture This! Illustration competition in association with Walker Books and I’m very excited to begin new drawing and writing adventures!
